Val Rinehart's photograph collection of road and bridge construction projects in Washington, 1930-1940.

This is a collection of 5 photograph albums that are about 7.5 x 12 inch. Each album is around 50 pages with varying sizes of black & white photographs of different contracted projects for roads and bridges in Washington State. It is unclear whether an independent contractor or the Washington State Highway Department performed the construction of these projects. Each album is identified with a contract number range and many of the photos are labeled with a contract number. The time frame for these projects seems to be around 1932 through 1936.

Val G. Rinehart was born about 1900 in Oregon. It is unclear when he came to Washington State. It is assumed since this photograph collection is titled "Val Rinehart Collection" that these albums belonged to him and he worked on these construction projects in some capacity. By 1959, he was an engineer with the Washington State Highway Department. Mr. Rinehart passed away in Olympia, WA on Jan. 4, 1992.
